It is temporal

...Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning

(Psalm 30:5, NKJV)

As we go through the cycle of life, we find ourselves having different experiences, at times everything is great, other times we are between seasons, other times we are down and struggling.  It is well said that we are either on the mountain top and enjoying it or down the valley looking up for some relief.  One thing is certain, no situation is permanent, not even the world we live in, the only constant for believers is the word of God.  God has promised in His word that He will never change (Malachi 3:6), His promises to us are ever true and He remains a faithful Father.

In times of struggle and pain, our humanity is overwhelmed by a state of hopelessness, fear and helplessness which is a recognition of our limitation and that we need a higher power to take charge. David in the Psalms shares with us many instances when he felt all alone and forgotten, but the beautiful thing is that as he poured out his heart to God, he ended up thanking God for His faithfulness and ever-present help. In Psalm 22, we see David crying out to God and being vulnerably bare in explaining his helplessness, yet in the last 9 verses, he praises the Lord his help, and declares that generations will proclaim the righteousness of God.  Yes, it is true that times get hard, and we could get discouraged but my brethren, let us keep our hope and focus on God, He sure will still come through.

I do not know what you might be going through but when you need a word, I pray that God will encourage you in His word. In Psalm 27 David reminds us that the Lord is the stronghold of our lives and therefore we will not be afraid, that He will hide us in the day of trouble (Vs.1,5) and that though others might forsake us, the Lord will receive us (Vs. 10).  The Psalmist concludes this chapter by declaring that he remains confident that he will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living God and that his heart will be strong as he waits on the Lord (Vs.13-14).  God gives us an assurance that He will never forget us though others might (Isaiah 49:15), that is His commitment to us. Our God is a present help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1)

As Bible believers we have a special relationship with God as a Father and regardless of what we face, our eyes will be on the Lord.  David found himself in a tough place in Ziglag where others thought he had failed them, yet we read that he (David) encouraged himself in the Lord his God (1 Samuel 30:6). Despite what our lives look like at any moment, let us be reminded that we are passing through, we are not stuck in the problem and as we navigate this situation, let us like David strengthen ourselves in the Lord, He will always come through for His children as we wait in faith.  When we step out, let us remind ourselves that our God will never leave us but will always be our helper (Hebrews 13:5-6).  Lynda Randle’s song: “God on the Mountain”, reminds us that God remains God both on the mountain and in the valley.  May we in the storms of life, find peace even as Jesus commanded “peace be still” (Mark 4:39). Encourage yourself with the knowing that He is God all the time and His mercies for you are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23). Our anchor verse gives us hope that the morning will bring His joy into our lives.  Hold on as the season passes.

Thoughts:

Are you in the valley or on the mountain?

How are you navigating the space?

What is our Father saying to you about the space?
